GORGEOUS AND GIGGLY

I could have photographed this brother and sister all day long!   All week long for that matter!   Emma is stunning and so at ease with the camera, it was truly a treat to work with her.  And Anthony was just all fun and smiles.  It was really a lovely evening weather-wise but I loved Mom’s idea of getting the look of different seasons… she brought sweaters and we went from a fall look to a summer look in one quick second.   Mom and Dad… I cannot wait to show you the entire gallery!   Thank you so much for giving me the honour to photograph your children.  Next time, you guys have to be in them too!

DREW and KATE – Calgary Child Photography

Wow!   It has been such a wonderfully, crazy, busy fall.  Thank you to everyone who has been phoning me, booking sessions and also waiting patiently for their galleries!   I have been having so much fun this fall and have been just soaking up all the fun with meeting new families and reuniting with ones I’ve taken photos of before.  I have neglected the blog a little bit as I’ve had to catch up on various items on my to-do list, but I’m making it up with a long post here!

It wasn’t just me, the camera absolutely, too, loved these two.   They had beautiful light coming into their backyard and out in the alleyway, so had lots of fun with that.  I swear both of these kids could be models.. they are so photogenic!   And what a surprise when Kate showed me their bearded dragon lizard (or something like that!!) at the end … I could have watched this  for much longer, but she needed to go and finish her dinner… squiggly, leggy, yucky looking things.

MADISON and SAMANTHA – Calgary Baby and Family Photographer

As soon as I walked in the door and saw Madison and Samantha for the first time I just fell in love with these 11 month old twin girls.  Just look at them… how can you not just pick each of them up and give them a big, big squeeze?    They were very quiet girls and gave me the most sincere expressions that I adored.  We spent most of our time inside for a studio lit shoot, but we did venture outside for a few shots at the end as well.  There’s lots here to look at in the blog, but just wait mom and dad, there are so many in your gallery to make you smile!!  Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

JADA – calgary family photographer

I’ve said it before and I know I’ll say it many more times … I meet the most amazing, delightful, and sincere families.  This family was just ‘pure nice’.  So super, super, supe nice — I felt like I have known them much longer than just the time we spent together at their shoot.  Their daughter was so fun to photograph and definitely gave me a workout — she loves to run!  And if she runs, I run!  It was very difficult to narrow down, but here are some (and only some) of my favourite images!

Thank you for the wine and cheese, as well!   What a wonderful way to end an amazing shoot (I should start my own tradition with that!!)

I saw this green fence and knew we had  to use it against Jada’s dress!  In the second image, she’s watching the LRT zip by!

And as the sun starting inching it’s way down, we got some cool shots of Calgary… a view I’d never photographed before.

ZAVIER – calgary newborn photographer

The moment I met Zavier’s mom, I was so looking forward to taking photos of her family.  She has a beauty that is not only shown on the outside, but just exudes from within as well.  This couple is so stunning, our maternity shoot left us with images that I absolutely love.  And then, Mr. Zavier arrived and oh my gosh, he is a darling.  Just a darling and we had lots of fun with him and his older brother.  I love when I go to family’s homes for a shoot as you can incorporate various props from their home to make the image speak more about them.  As I walked through the kitchen, I noticed this beautiful red table runner and knowing they loved to travel, thought this South American touch would create a beautiful image.   Isn’t he perfection?

I couldn’t decide which image I liked better of Zavier and his older brother.. so I’m showing both!

WE GO WAAAAAY BACK! – calgary family photographer

24 years ago, I walked timidly into a big new school — taken from our comfortable class of 12 in Longview school (8 girls, 4 boys — I still remember!) and thrown into the daunting high school where all those big kids were.   One of the not so scary kids was a girl named Kim.  We were inseparable for 4 years of school.  The memories together were endless: writing notes back and forth in class, meeting Corey Hart when he did a video on her land, numerous sleepovers, countless giggle fits in class, even being banned from seeing each other because Kim’s mom found some swears in those notes back and forth.  Through those 24 years we’ve had some times where we super close and other times where we’ve drifted farther apart than we’d like because of circumstance.   I’m so happy that we are at a place where we are having a fabulous time talking with each other, adoring our families, sharing ideas and dreams, helping each other achieve them,  and taking care of ourselves.  Thank you, Kim, so much for giving me the honour of photographing your gorgeous family.   Her and Jaydel’s girls are the most beautiful, spirited trio.   One of favourite moments of our shoot is when they pretended to be frogs jumping in the grass.  I was giggling so hard I could hardly keep the camera still.  And one of my favourites is the barn shot… Mom and Dad looking totally stunning for the family photo and the kids just being kids!!   That one totally makes me break into a big grin!

The last photo is a ‘corporate shot’ of Kim.  (she is going to give me trouble for making it so big on the blog!)  Kim is founder of MPowered Marketing and this is something you must check out if you have your own business and would like to learn how to make the best marketing decisions for your company to grow.   She has consulting and mentoring services as well as 3 lecture series currently running in the city.  It was the most wonderful feeling attending the last round of lectures… you know when you know your friends are really good at what they do, but don’t really completely know HOW good they are.  Well, after I went I realized how Kick Butt Kim is at what she does.  I was so proud of her and how successful her business is and how it is growing.  I spoke with her for an official 30 minute consulting session about marketing for my company and it truly made a world of difference in my direction.  I hope you check it out….

ALL THE WAY FROM TOGO – calgary baby photographer

Manu is definitely the recipient of  “My Client Who Lives Furthest Away” award!  Manu lives in Togo and I was so looking forward to this little man’s trip across the ocean to come visit his family.  As that meant I also got to ooh and ahh over how sweet he is as his Auntie (you’ll remember her from this shoot) bought him a session as a gift.   Schedules made it that I was taking photos of Manu as his mom was packing to go back home.  I’m so glad we were able to make it happen as this little guy is beyond adorable!  That tuft of hair will forever make me giggle.

If you, too, would like to purchase a gift certificate for someone special, please contact me!  I have gift cards available for you to pass on to your friends and family.   manu_blogmanu_blog26713-copy6789-copy6561-copy

9 KIDS CONES, PLEASE – calgary child photographer

I had envisioned this shot for a long time.   I wanted a shot of all the kids Reuben and Hailey play with on a daily basis.  These are the kids who, every night when we tell Hailey who loves her, are her friends that we talk about “and Thomas loves you and Katie loves you and Ashleigh loves you…..”.  I wanted to involve colour and ice cream and show off our neighbourhood.  So on a weekend when everyone was around, we all paraded over to My Favourite Ice Cream Shoppe and I ordered 9 kids cones.   And this is what we came up with.

What I love the most is each little one’s expression — it’s just so them.  Jonathan with his gorgeous blonde hair and his huge smile, Ashleigh with her princess skirt and her huge blue eyes,  Thomas and his “I’m up to something” look, Daniel with the best posture ever, Sydney on the other far end taking it all in, Hailey giggling behind her ice cream so happy to be with her buddies, Zoe with her inquisitive “what’s going on over there” look, Kate with her confident air, and Reuben covered head to toe.

Although I couldn’t see all their moms and dads behind me, I hear there were lots of smiles, laughs and even a couple teary eyes!

And yes, I’m thrilled to say you’ll see it as a 40×20 canvas up in My Favourite Ice Cream Shoppe at the end of September!  Go over and have a look and order a Pango Pango Mango (what Hailey has) while you’re at it!

GROWING UP – Calgary Baby Photographer

You may remember this little fellow from the image on the left.  This image of Tiernan with his grandpa is still one of my all time favourites.  So of course, when I came over for his 8 month shoot, (yes, he’s growing up so quickly) I had to get a couple of him in the same chair.   Is he not so adorable?  We then ventured off to a neighbour’s stunning yard for the remainder of our shoot.  So much fun … I can’t wait to see him again at a year!!

GOLDEN GATE

Harold and I had a fabulous 4 day getaway to San Francisco (Thanks Grandma Marlene for looking after H&R!) in August.   It is such a fabulous city to just walk and walk and walk around in.  So, we spent a couple hours just walking on and around the Golden Gate bridge and here are a couple photos from that.  I’m really happy with them as they were what I was envisioning as I took them.  With the flowers I wanted it to be bright and cheery.   As we had read lots about the building of it  – it was completed in 1937 -  I wanted to give it a dated look to imagine how an image of it may look like from back then.  I played lots in photoshop to create that look and was happy with the result— I was definitely smiling as the sailboat came into the image.  They had sailboats in 1937, wouldn’t you say!?!

Lots more shoots to come through!  It’s a busy fall.  September is booked up, so definitely contact me for an October session!
