We were everywhere for this shoot from earlier in November — their gorgeous backyard, on the steps, by the pumpkins, in the trees, on the swing. From the outdoors we went inside for some gorgeous family photos in the living room with the chair I loved and even downstairs to play video games and wrestle. Now that is my kind of fun and what an honour for me to document it all. Here is a taste of the afternoon for you and lots more to come!
What a treat photographing this sweetie pie at his home. His mom owns and runs the fabulous Herringer Kiss Gallery on 11th Avenue SW. The art in there home is stunning of course and I was so thrilled to be using it as a backdrop to lots of our images. I love his gorgeous hair against the blues.
I also included one that he took of Mom and Dad — I really like his perspective and definitely think he’s got potential!! Hmmmmm, I do need an assistant… I may have to sign him up in 20 years or so! And I love the series of him with the espresso! Can’t you just hear him yelling out the order in the last shot of the series there??
I had soooooooooo much fun at this family’s home. The moment I entered their home, I felt so welcome. The mom of these three stunning children is one of those people who you can instantly tell her heart is as big as her smile. Fabulous conversation led us to making different connections and I left feeling like I had met a new friend. On the shoot side of things, well admittedly things were a bit on the crazy side and I absolutely love that the craziness, and beauty, of this family could be captured! I just adore the series of Mom with the kids… hands up for those who can relate to the feeling these images evoke! I super enjoy these types of lifestyle shoots; pajamas and all!
Wowsers… this was such a windy, windy day. We actually changed locations to see if we’d be a bit more sheltered here, but as you can see our plan didn’t quite work out! But the English family were complete troopers and we just had lots of fun instead of worrying about gusts of wind!! There are lots of favourites with this sweet family, but I definitely love this first one. I love the clouds and colour but it is the sheer joy on her face as she showed me her dance moves that completes it, of course! And love how her big brother is in the background.
Look at these darling kids! My gosh, they were so fun, so interactive, so polite, so sweet. I could have taken them home with me, I swear. There are gorgeous images of them on their own, but I really wanted to share the ones of them together as I just love them! And really, how often do you get a brother and sister this age working so well together??? And a cool note about the jump shot… Dad’s home town is actually the name of the town on the memorial block — Boulogne. It’s so cool when those little details are brought into family shoots. Thank you for such a fun session!
Here is the last of the Longview fall mini-shoots! I am so excited to show these to Cathy who I know has been waiting very impatiently (ooops, I mean patiently) for her gallery and blog post! The three boys are the most gorgeous little guys … beautiful skin, unique eyes, sweet expressions.. and they just loved being out there in the country. It was so great to see them all enjoying the horses and cats and straw bales. And Cathy, stunning lady, look how gorgeous you are!! I love the shot of you! Can’t wait to show you all the others!
It’s always fun for me to decide which images to put on a blog post. Most times I know immediately which images I want to highlight. It is often because it is an exact moment combined with its light and composition that just speaks to me or give me goosebumps or makes me get weak tear ducts. It may be because I treasure the ‘behind the scenes’ of a particular image. It may be because I want to highlight something different I tried as that is what makes me grow as a photographer. Lots of reasons behind my choices.
Every once in a while I think it’s fun to highlight a whole shoot rather than just a few images. First of all, it’s fun! And secondly, it gives you a chance to see what a full gallery of images from a shoot would look like. So today is one of those days! And here I introduce a very, very sweet girl. We visited the farm where her grandmother grew up and it is an absolute treasure! I could shoot there all day, all week long! I’m sure there are lots of corners to still discoverand hope I can visit there again someday! So I’ll let the images do the talking this time… be warned… this girl is gorgeous.

Time for a little trivia on myself! Before my career as a photographer, I worked for AIR MILES in the marketing department that focused on the companies that were partners in the program. I spent many years there (almost 8 years!! Ack!) and had the complete pleasure of meeting one of the stars of this blog post, Andrea, there. She could always make me laugh and continues to do so post AIR MILES days when we meet up for photo shoots. I’ve been lucky enough to take photos of her and Scott as a couple, pregnancy photos, newborn photos and now some ‘close to a year’ photos of gorgeous Claudia. I just love the softness of this shoot. Later on, we went inside and took photos with both sets of grandparents!! I adore multigeneration photos — so, so meaningful to everyone.
We never expected to get such gorgeous weather for this shoot but wow, we had a fabulous evening – no one even needed coats!! Each of the kids brought such a gorgeously unique personality to the shoot… I so enjoyed getting to know each one of them. I am so excited to show them all the other images – with all the family ones there is a closeness about the 5 of them that I absolutely love!!!
Another Longview mini-shoot! My goodness, I love the Longview shoots so much – a gorgeous location and such fun families. This is the third time I have seen James, once when he was brand, brand new another around a year and now him as a little boy… no more baby! And he was all smiles!
This is one of my favourite EVER mom and child images. There is just something about it that shouts love and fun and connection to me! I hope you love it too, Lisa! And dad, we’ll get you in the next shoot!!!
