WANDER INTO MY FRIDAY – #2 – Calgary Photographer

Here is my second Wander Into My Friday posting.   Today my ‘wandering’ got pushed back to the afternoon as I was busy with visiting clients in the morning.   It was a seamless delay though.. not forced in anyway, it still just happened!    Those Fridays… just get you sidetracked I tell you.

So, it’s always been a dream of mine to put together series of images that would be perfect for a line of greeting cards.   I see it happening soon!  Lots of that help is going to come from my macro lens.  A lens that lets you get up VERY close to your subject.  Perfect for eyelashes of sweet babies, but also ideal for flowers and bugs and fruit… some other subjects that I love photographing.   Here are a couple I took last summer when I first got my lens.    Let me know what you think!

DARLING TWINS! – Calgary Newborn Photographer

Every newborn I work with is a privilege for me.  So imagine how thrilled I am when I’m able to take photos of two newborns at the same time!   Taking photos of these two darlings literally gave me goosebumps.  Sometimes I just had to put my camera down, sigh, look and adore.  I hope you sigh, look and adore as well.

DANCING IN EVENING LIGHT – Calgary Child Photographer

This was a shoot where I wish I could share each and every image with you!   These two young ladies have a brightness within them that shone so beautifully in the gooooooorrrrrrrgeous evening light we had on the evening we met up.  One is a ballet dancer and the other is an Irish dancer, so they brought their outfits and we were able to capture some of their dancing spirit as well.   What a wonderful evening!

WANDER INTO MY FRIDAY – Calgary Child Photographer

Working in the ‘corporate’ world I remember Fridays often being a day that just got started a little later  (and ended a little earlier!!)  With my own business, I think the same tradition often works its way into the last official workday of the week.   It’s now 9:51 and I haven’t really gotten much done.  For no particular reason, I just seem to wander in my own world for a bit.  Taking a bit longer to get my earl grey tea ready.  Looking at images that are beyond my clients work.  Pictures I take for fun.  Surfing the web.   So I thought it would make that time feel a bit more justified if I actually posted something stemming from this Friday morning escape.  So today I’m introducing ‘Wander into my Friday’  .

This picture was taken at neighbourhood bbq last weekend.  A friend from Denmark was back in town and we had a get together in a neighbourhood backyard.  The new play structure back there was a huge hit with all the kids.  I scooted up there with them and this was an image that I just fell in love with.  You know my weakness for red hair and freckles and when this cutie gave me this look I knew we had captured a beautiful image.

Oh and look now it’s 10:04……

GRAYSON (8 days old) – Calgary Newborn Photographer

Oh, I just loved this little boy.  Such a sweet disposition and sweet smiles.   I love his toes sticking out, his baby finger pressed against his index finger and his ridiculously precious expression on his face while being held by dad.   I’m sure I’ve never seen a dad so excited about a photo shoot before.  He was so into it and so wished for an image with his jerseys so the last image is for him and his sports addicted family!!

YEAHHH! ANOTHER REDHEAD! – Calgary Family Photographer

Look up.  Look waaaaaaay up!   And yes, you’ll see one of the stars from today’s posting on the top of my blog as it rotates through the images.  I couldn’t resist his blue eyes and red hair then and I definitely can’t now either!!   Lucky me… he came to visit me again and this time he brought his little brother… an absolute cutie in his own right too!

IT ALL WORKS OUT! – Calgary Newborn Photographer

I tell you, these newborns are smart little cookies.  This little one wasn’t very into her photo shoot when we first got started.  She just didn’t want to settle at all.  So we said, how about Dad and Benjamin go outside and we get some father/son photos while new baby sister has a bit of  a drink.  And truly, you’ll see one of my favourite father/son pictures ever.  I just love it… pure simple joy and connection.  After having a ton of fun outside, we went back in the house and baby sister was as content as could be.  We were able to capture gorgeous photos of her and her family that absolutely adores their new addition to the family.

A BIT OF SILLY! – Calgary Child Photographer

This image is going to make me crack a smile every time I look at it.

THREE SEASONS IN ONE SHOOT! – Calgary Family Photographer

I swear we had spring, summer and winter all wrapped up into one during our time together for this shoot.   We first got to this neighbourhood park and it was definitely a cool Calgary spring morning.  The sweet little boy was NOT into having his pictures taken … he was a smart little guy, it was too chilly!!   So we switched gears and warmed up in the nearby Starbucks and ended up with some very sweet photographs in there!!   That little sugar kick did the trick… we got back to the park and had a great time playing and running around and having fun.  The sun was out and we actually getting a bit hot.  Then, if you can believe (and I know you Calgarians can) it started to snow!!!!!   Unbelievable.  You’ll see some snowflakes in the pictures if you look closely.  A shoot  to remember for sure!!

PERSONALITY! – Calgary Child Photographer

Yes, this little boy had TONS of personality and he had me giggling lots behind the camera!  Such fun expressions!
