WANDER INTO MY FRIDAY – Calgary Photographer

A couple weekends ago our family ventured to Okotoks to participate in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. This is the third time we have participated in the relay in memory of Mom who passed away from colon cancer in February 2008. This year we had Mom’s sister and brother-in-law from Ontario with us, which was a real treat. One beautiful part of the evening is when all the luminaries with messages to those who have won, succumbed to or still working on the fight with cancer. Hailey and Reuben both drew a picture for Grandma Barb to put on the luminaries… Hailey was positive Grandma Barb would love her brightly coloured dinosaur and I fully agree. I didn’t get any images of them lit up but did have my camera out when the kids were putting their pictures on the luminaries spread out around the track.
It’s definitely an emotionally filled evening but one that leaves you thankful for all the memories you’ve had with one so special in your life, and admittedly aching for more.

HAPPY HAPPY BABY! – Calgary Baby Photographer

This sweetheart was just all smiles!!! This stage of a baby’s first year is a treasure to photograph. They give gorgeous smiles, have so many expressions, can sit and push themselves up and have that wonderful baby posture we love. What a pleasure to photograph this 6 month old – she had me giggling the whole session through!
WANDER INTO MY FRIDAY #3

This week, I realized one of the proudest moments for a parent is when they witness the pride felt by their child. Our little Hailey, on her last day of preschool, with such a proud look on her face. She is accepting ”a star to wish upon, a pillowcase for sweet dreams and a book to always keep learning” that her teacher she adores gave each of the children to congratulate them on their upcoming move to kindergarten.
It was the preschool’s Over the Rainbow ceremony, where the preschool students move from the preschool side of the rainbow to the kindergarten side of the rainbow. We were entertained with lots of singing and dancing to begin the special event and then each of the kids went up on the stage to shake hands and accept their gifts from their teacher.
Sweet Hailey, we couldn’t be more proud. We wish you so many more proud and happy moments… with all our love, Mom and Dad.
GORGEOUS COUNTRY, GORGEOUS FAMILY – Calgary Family Photography

To grow up in such a beautiful part of Alberta, of Canada… of the world is a huge, huge part of me. I grew up on a ranch south of Longview, a small town that is known as the gateway to the Kananaskis. The views are striking as you are treated to both the mountains and the foothills all in one glance. Going ‘home’ is always a treat. So to take that gorgeous drive south, visit my family and also take photos of a family that is part of my growing up, on their gorgeous property outside Longview, is a perfect day for me!
This is a family that I rode the school bus with and there was only one digit different in our phone numbers!! When they asked me to take their family photos, I was beyond thrilled. We had such an amazing evening together taking so many different combinations of their family, admiring the amazing view they wake up to every morning, drinking a nice glass of wine and reminiscing! They are a musically gifted family so when all the kids brought out their instruments to play with Grandpa… perfection! When they wrote me after and shoot and mentioned they had a magical night, I truly got a lump in my throat. That’s what this is all about.

FAMILY – Calgary Family Photography

Here is a family that was so fun to photograph. Gorgeous, sweet, cooperative kids who had lots of ideas for fun photographs… headstands, soccer kicking, guitar playing, jumping, ballet twirling! We had such a lovely evening.
I had to include one of the soccer shots with the FIFA World Cup going on in South Africa. I love his HUGE game winning kick and his little sister has both feet off the ground cheering them on. Love it! Hope everyone is enjoying watching the games while enjoying their morning coffee!
FOR GRANDMA AND GRANDPA – Calgary Family Photographer

I love it when I get asked to take photos as a gift for grandparents. Truly, I’m fairly certain they would like nothing better than images of their beautiful children & their loved ones and of course their sweet grandchildren. The extra special part about this shoot — I’m lucky enough to know first hand how good hearted the people are who asked me to. When you are around N. you feel like the most special person on this earth. She is warm, genuine, and is simply a person who fully captures the essence of kind. And when you around E. you just laugh, and laugh and then yeah laugh a bit more. And when you are around Oskar, book a nap for afterwards because you will be tired!!! Everyone was together for E.’s sister’s wedding the following weekend so I hope the celebrations were all you hoped for!!!
