I had to entitle the name of this blog post “Little Miss O”. I can’t tell you how many pictures of have of this adorable little girl with her mouth shaped into a perfect ‘o’. I had to put together a collection of my favourites as we giggled so much about it during her shoot. We did the whole shoot at Grandma’s place… she has a gorgeous backyard complete with gardens and waterfalls, plants and flowers, benches and gravel. A morning with this little sweetie would make anyone’s day!!!
It was a very very blah day out weather-wise, completely gray and overcast when I made my way over to my morning shoot this day. As soon as this client opened the doors to their home, my day brightened up. oooh, those baby blue eyes that greeted me! This 12 week old just made my heart melt the first moment I saw him — and for many moments afterwards. I mean, just look at his beautiful blue eyes!! He is such a gorgeous little guy … not surprising in the slightest considering his mom and dad are pretty darn beautiful themselves. I love his blue eyes, but a lot of these images were calling out for black and white. Thank you for such a lovely morning!
This little one is just sweetness through and through! She is one of those babies you just want to go up to and say…. oooooooooh my goodness, you are such a cutie!!! I think I did that about thirty times during our shoot!!

This sweetheart was just all smiles!!! This stage of a baby’s first year is a treasure to photograph. They give gorgeous smiles, have so many expressions, can sit and push themselves up and have that wonderful baby posture we love. What a pleasure to photograph this 6 month old – she had me giggling the whole session through!
Oh, I just loved this little boy. Such a sweet disposition and sweet smiles. I love his toes sticking out, his baby finger pressed against his index finger and his ridiculously precious expression on his face while being held by dad. I’m sure I’ve never seen a dad so excited about a photo shoot before. He was so into it and so wished for an image with his jerseys so the last image is for him and his sports addicted family!!
It’s always fun to go to clients houses and bring their own loves (in addition to their family!!) into their shoot. Dad is a big mountain climber and suggested incorporating his ropes and jacket into the shoot. I think she looks as sweet as can be and will be out on the mountains with her mom and dad before they know it!!
When I looked back at my last posting, I couldn’t believe it was almost two weeks ago!! I wish I could have said I was enjoying daiquiris on a beach in the Caribbean but nope I was hard at work here in Calgary. It has been a very, very exciting couple weeks for Visual Hues Photography and so I’ve dedicated lots of time to the business over that time period.
I am sooooo thrilled to share these images with you. Remember the photo of this sweetheart on his bench… well, he has a sister to share the bench with now! His sister was born at the very, very, very end of March so we were happy to incorporate some spring into her images.
Ahhhhhh!!!! So cute! This gorgeous boy and adorable girl are the children of my hairdresser (who I absolutely adore). We had such a blast at their home. Mom and Dad have a great sense of style — just look at their stairwell!! The little girl was pretty much smiles and energy the whole time and her brother took a bit more time to get into it. One of my favourite parts of a shoot is when there is a shy little one who eventually warms up to me. The first individual image of the little boy was very near the beginning of the shoot. He was still wondering who I was and what I was doing there. But fast forward 20 minutes later and he is full of smiles and giving me the best looks. I just love that — not only because I have become a buddy, but also because it makes for a wonderful range of expressions in the full set of images.

Remember this sweet little newborn from late last year? Well, he brought his two adorable cousins to his next photo shoot. The goal? To get a gorgeous shot of three cousins together. It’s not quite as easy as it sounds with a typical busy boy, a little girl not quite sitting up on her own yet and a 2 month newborn! In the end we decided to go with a shot from overhead and here is the result!! The three moms were sisters and we were able to capture lots of mom and child moments too.
Way back when, the mom of these beautiful kids and I were neighbours. Yes, we’re both from Longview. Yeehaw!! She was a few years younger than me which of course seems like a world of difference back then. Now that we are grown up those years in between meld away into the background and we could have chatted for hours and hours. I just love her attitude towards motherhood — she is so relaxed, so smiley, so easygoing for being the mom of a busy boy and a week old little one. Thank you for such a lovely day.
