SNUGGLE IN!! – Calgary Family Photographer

I just loved the snuggles of this family! I would just be adjusting settings on my camera and getting ready to say “OK snuggle in closer”. Then, I would look up and they would just be cozy as could be!! Complete family love. They were saying they decided to leave their dog at home, but we had a tiny bit of light left so I suggested we race to their home and grab their gorgeous pup for a few more frames. They were able to wrestle their retriever down for a family picture, complete with all 5 members!!

Once again, I get to go home feeling warm and snuggly myself after spending such a nice time with such a lovely family.

URBAN FUN! – Calgary Family Photography

So how many families can I just meet and totally love??? The list keeps growing and this family is no exception! Such sweet girls (and Dad, you are cool, too!) We had a fun time venturing down some back alleys finding some fun spots to photograph and got some super fun results.

HAPPY 50th ANNIVERSARY – Calgary Family Photographer

Happy Anniversary and a big congratulations on 50 years of marriage!! Their children so lovingly gave them a photo shoot for their anniversary — isn’t that the sweetest?? We had a picnic at Fish Creek park while we took photos of everyone in the family. I whisked the two of them away for a bit to take photos of just them and had such a fun time talking with them hearing their stories of how they met and raising children and pursuing dreams. Loved our conversations and hope they love the photos!!

STUDIO IN PROGRESS – Calgary Child Photographer

Here is the first image from a new project I am working on. I’ve decided to document the progress of the studio transformation. This is such a big step in our lives we thought it deserved some special attention. We think it will be fun to have a series of pictures to look at later to show us how our vision developed from beginning to end.

As it is a 1911 home and Hailey is wearing a vintage-style dress, I wanted to edit this image with the same sort of feel. I’d be very interested in knowing your thoughts about how you think it turned out as I usually don’t put textures into my work, but I am super pleased with how this turned into what I was imagining it would.

Hailey is in one of the new set of dresses I have purchased specifically for Visual Hues Photography shoots. I have a series of them with the intention of ordering more so let me know if you are interested in these adorable handmade dresses. I have a variety of colours, styles and sizes and I know I won’t be able to keep away from them!!

FREE-SPIRITS – Calgary Child and Family Photography

When I first saw these three little ones pop out of their vehicle one by one, I knew we were going to have a magical shoot! The whole family was full of big smiles, lots of giggles and a sense of style that I just loved. The best thing… the kids are just as fun and free-spirited as they are gorgeous.

It’s a big post, I know, but it’s all I could do to narrow it down to these ones!! I’m sure I’ll look back at their gallery tomorrow and wish I would have put some other favourites in!!!

Enjoy your weekend!!! I’ll be back next weekend with the most precious newborn.

FAMILY – Calgary Family Photographer

I was so excited to take photos of this beautiful family. These littles ones’ drop dead gorgeous mom and I both did work with our children’s preschool board. Through meeting there we organized our shoot — it’s great to meet so many wonderful and fun families through the activities of our children.

I am in complete love with the first image here. It’s an example of those images where your children don’t have to have a huge smile on their faces to be as precious as can be. The first family one just shouts “FUN” to me and the second kiss in the park makes me sigh with happiness. We finished the day off with ice cream — what a perfect way to end it!!!

OUT IN THE COUNTRY – Calgary and Longview Child Photography

Here are a few more images from our beautiful venture out to Longview. I will never tire of the beauty of the area where I grew up; it’s one of my favourite places to take photographs. There is a such a sense of ‘being’ out there… the air, the colours, the quiet! Couple that beauty with these sweethearts and it’s a perfect day!

ZOE – Calgary Child Photographer

Zoe is one of Hailey’s very good friends. She absolutely loves horses and all things cowboy so we thought Grandpa Jim’s (my dad’s) ranch south of Longview would be the perfect place for a photo shoot. We headed off to the country and had such a lovely visit. We got to feed the horses, play by the barn and even feed one of the calves with the biggest milk bottle Zoe had ever seen!!! And even had homemade pie in the house afterwards (thanks Karen!)
